Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Whenever the government started thinking about opening schools, the second wave of coronavirus came. So I have given time till January 15 without opening the school thinking about our children. If the situation improves, the school will be opened, otherwise we will not open it. '

The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the distribution of free textbooks among students of different levels including pre-primary, primary level, minority students of 2021 academic year through video conference from Ganobhaban on Thursday morning. Despite the Corona situation, the government is handing over new books free of cost to about 4 and a half crore students on time. A total of 34 crore 37 lakh 72 thousand 412 textbooks are being distributed free of cost in the 2021 academic year.

 Education Minister Dipu Moni on behalf of the Prime Minister and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md. Zakir Hossain handed over new textbooks to some students of primary, secondary and madrasa and technical education departments.
 The way the books will be distributed
 The distribution of books in educational institutions across the country will start from January 1 tomorrow. After that, new books will be distributed to the students of sixth to ninth class for a total of 12 days in three days. Although the book festival is not held on January 1 due to the closure of educational institutions due to coronavirus, students are getting free books at the beginning of the year. This time around 35 crore books are being printed.

 In her speech, the Prime Minister emphasized on the development of mental education in students, saying, "Although it is very difficult to spend time at home, there are many more books that can be read, not just textbooks. He added, "I would request those who have parents to give time to the children. Because, just like the coronavirus is bothering us, you are still getting the opportunity to spend time with your children in the midst of thousands of work pressures, you will take advantage of this opportunity. '
